IDEAS AND IMAGES FOR UNDERWATER PHOTOGRAPHY

The most striking thing about this photo is the fabric of the dress and the movement and energy it creates. I think it really shows off the fabric and as this photo is a fashion photo, i think it sells the clothes well. This is also created by the use of light in this photo. The light is focused on the fabric towards the back of the dress, so the viewer focuses on this first. The models face is in shadow which is interesting because normally photographers focus the light on the face of the model. However it is a side on shot so this is probably.  

The contrast in this photo is very tic. The dark black background allows for the dress to stand out and gives it a clear, sharp outline. The shadows on the dress add depth to the dress and highlight where the fold and creases are in the material. The angle that  this photo was shot at is lower down than the model and pointing slightly towards her face. This angle makes the models neck seem elongated and draws the viewers eye to it. I also think that the bubbles in the water could resemble her breathing and it looks like she could be drowning or falling into the water. The position she's in could also suggest this. Her leg and arms look almost broken which add to the falling effect. The photographer has also chosen to not include all of her body in the frame, her arm and leg are cut off which could suggest a broken effect.

This is a Photo of Keria Knightly underwater on a modelling shoot.

This is one of my favourtite photos. I found it by searching 'under water fashion photography' in google.com. I found out later by doing more research that it was taken by Zena Holloway. I think her costume makes  brilliant effcect in the water. It really creates a soft, flowing feel to the photo. It also reminds me of wings or featehr on a bird because the delicate white fabric looks like feathers underwater. The models eyes peice throught the photo which makes it a feirce photograph. This looks like it has been taken deep underwtaer, perhaps in a water tank becasue you cannot see the water surface. It looks liek it's been taken face on but focused on the top half of her body. Or perhaps the photographer could have edited this from an origional full shot photo. Some form of underwater lighting would probabaly have been used becasue of the there are sharp, crisp outlines, which is created by the more light used in a photo.

This was a photo taken by Ric Frazer. This photo is interesting because of the high contrast between the lighter foreground and the darker shadows in the background. I think the angles that the model is making with her body are interstin and makes the photo look more dramatic. The top of her head looks like it'ss half in the water because there is a refection above her head. I think this is a really interesting effect and really gives you the feeling of water.

This photo is really interesting as it is a still shot of somone diving into a pool. I realy like this photo and i might try and create this sort of technique for my own experimental photos. There is a strong contrast between the background and the model.

This photo was taken by Ric Frazer. The interesting angle of the model's body draws you to her top half of her body and her head. The strong eye make-up balances out the strong reflectcion on the left hand side of the photo.

The most interesting part of this photo is the model's shape she is making. She is creating sharp angles with her arms and her legs which draws the ey in and gives her a sense of gracefulness.

This photo was taken by Alix Malka and it's a wide shot of a model underwater. The most interesting part of this photo is the blue material of the dress and the directional lines in the material. In the material of the dress there are two vertical lines which suggest that the photo has been edited or perhaps chopped in places. Or perhaps that is the material of the dress. These lines break up the image so that you see the photo in three parts. The leg, the mid body and then the head and the rest of the water. There are strong contrasts beteen the white and blue parts of the dress and the pale body of the model and the dark water in the background. Because there is such a strong contrast between he models skin and the water this produces a very sharp, crisp line,so the photo is of a good quality. The photo looks quite balanced because the model's leg is in the top right hand corner and the head and hand int he bottom right corner. thsi makes the viewer look across the whole of the photo and means that they are not just focussing on one part.
